Teacup Goldendoodles: Size, Price and What to Know

A teacup Goldendoodle is the smallest size of Goldendoodle, weighing 5 to 13 pounds full grown and standing 8 to 13 inches at the shoulder. Teacup, micro, toy, and petite all describe this smallest end of the breed, and because breeders use the words a little differently, the labels matter less than the numbers.

How big do they actually get?

Most teacup Goldendoodles reach their adult size by 9 to 11 months, earlier than larger doodles. The single most reliable predictor of adult weight is what the two parents weigh. A puppy out of a 9 pound dam and a 7 pound toy Poodle sire will finish tiny. A puppy out of a 22 pound dam will finish larger, whatever the litter is called. Ask any breeder for both parents' weights before you reserve.

What do they cost?

Teacup Goldendoodles run $2,000 to $8,000 nationally, the widest price spread of any doodle size. Our puppies are $2,500 to $5,500, and size is not what sets the price. Where a puppy lands in that range comes down to genetics, lineage, coat, generation, and rights - a puppy going home with full breeding rights is priced above the same puppy on a pet-only contract.

How long do they live?

Teacup Goldendoodles live 12 to 16 years. Small dogs generally outlive large ones, which is why a teacup or micro Goldendoodle usually outlives a standard Goldendoodle by several years. Health-tested parents are the foundation, and after that the two things an owner controls most are keeping the dog lean and staying current on dental care.

Temperament

They are affectionate, clever, and firmly attached to their people - the kind of dog that follows you room to room. They train quickly, get along with other pets, and suit apartments and smaller homes. Like most companion doodles, they would rather not be left alone all day.
